A Brooklyn Dog

Meet Schlomo and his new life on 3 legs

Day 7 (and guess who jumped onto the couch when I wasn’t looking…?)

Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

It’s been a week. A week of heartache, fear, horror, feeling helpless, guilt and anger (at myself really).

But it has also been a week of love and hope and amazing support by people we have never met. People who support others because they have been through these same situations and know too well what it feels like. People who give unconditionally to help others go through it as sanely as possible. It has blown my mind.

I thank all of you kind support souls from the bottom of my heart.

Now meet Schlomo: A Brooklyn Dog that got his street cred on the South Side of Williamsburg when he was growing up. For the past 10 years he has resided in Greenpoint, right down the street from his home park.

He is never happier than when his face is covered in sand on the beach. A big part of the decision to make him a tripawd was for him to be able to go to the beach again and not be in constant pain.

I’m using these as my Mantra to help get him there.

Look at that happy face…

      I’ll keep them coming.
Tomorrow they are taking off the bandage, first check up.
      I’ll post more!

  2. He’s a sweetie, and he will enjoy the beach just as much as a tripawd! My Otis was up on the couch as soon as the staples came out – I literally had it barricaded with pillows and large gates piled against it before. Once he was up there, no way I could make him get down. Day 7 is still in the ‘short leashed potty breaks’ phase, but if he’s happy. . .

The couch is the magnet! I didn’t even think about him doing that. With cone and everything. Otis knows what’s good too. They all do 🙂
I can’t wait to have him at the beach again!

  3. Schlomo! Hey there precious guy. I didn’t know you were a Brooklyn kid or a beach bum, aren’t you just the coolest guy on three paws. I love those pictures and all his little paw prints in the sand I bet he does enjoy feeling the sand between his toes (or in his nose). He will definitely be a hit at the beach! I’m so glad that Schlomo got to have you for his Mom he is obviously much loved.
You’re right Tripawds is amazing I am thankful every day that I found these incredible people and their beloved pets. I am also thankful I have the chance to meet you and Schlomo!

  4. The first time I took Murphy to our groomer’s house, he not only went down their basement steps, he turned around & ran back up before they could catch him! lol We live in a ranch-style house, so he didn’t need to do stairs and that was his first time 🙂 Nope, can’t keep them down!
You got this Schlomo! You’ll be back to the beach before you know it
